    • The magazine is published quarterly (January, April, July, and October)

    • Depending on the position, substantial time commitment may be required

  • Sub-editors work with and under the editors-in-chief to read the work of contributors and staff/column writers. For art and writing submitted by contributors, you will decide if the piece will be (a) accepted without revisions, (b) accepted with revisions required, or (c) rejected. You are responsible for notifying the contributor about the status of their piece within one week of their submission. If the piece is (b) accepted with revisions required, you will provide the writer or artist with the appropriate feedback and edits (this is most applicable to writing submissions) within two weeks of the submission date. For articles by staff/column writers, you are in charge of making sure the writing is grammatically and factually correct and making sure all writing and images work smoothly together. You are responsible for editing in a timely manner, overseeing the cohesion of the pieces, and communicating with the writers and contributors.

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience writing or editing

    • Previous experience working on a magazine/newspaper preferred

    • Writing sample (required)

    • Art sample (optional)

    • Reliability (you must be responsible in providing edits within timeframes and working with contributors and other staff)

    This position requires substantial time commitment because you will be working on each issue from start to finish

  • The art director is in charge of the final layout, organization, and look of the magazine. You will work with the editors to make sure every element of the issue fits together and you will coordinate with the staff/column writers and staff artists to tie the words and images together.

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience working on a magazine/newspaper preferred

    • Previous experience designing or layout managing preferred

    • Design samples: preferably digital works that display your design/graphic skills

    • Most commitment is required in the time leading up to publication dates but you should also be available to communicate with the other staff when needed

  • Staff writers work with editors to come up with article ideas and execute them for each issue. As a staff writer, you will be responsible for doing your own research, interviews, and whatever else your article requires in a timely manner and communicating with the editors.

    Requirements:

    • Previous writing experience, preferably for a journalistic newspaper or magazine

    • Writing sample

    • List of potential ideas for articles

    • Contribution to the magazine must be regular (every other issue is required, but subject to change)

    • You must be able to complete your work by provided deadlines and communicate with other staff

  • Column writers are responsible for creating and writing interesting columns that appeal to the magazine's audience and the theme of the current issue. You will collaborate with the editors to coordinate what topical columns to include. You will be responsible for writing columns in a timely manner and communicating with the editors.

    Requirements:

    • Previous writing experience

    • Writing sample

    • List of potential column ideas

    • Contribution to the magazine must be regular (every other issue is required, but subject to change)

    • You must be able to complete your work by provided deadlines and communicate with other staff

  • Staff artists are in charge of providing accompanying artwork for articles as well as some stand-alone art. You will work with the editors and writers to execute their vision for each piece while maintaining your creative freedom and agency. We welcome a range of mediums (ie. photography, animation, collage)

    Requirements:

    • Previous artistic experience

    • Ability to upload work digitally

    • List of preferred mediums, styles, and forms

    • Sample artwork

    • You must provide artwork by given deadlines and communicate with staff

  • Media managers are in charge of the magazine’s publicity. You will be producing content for its social media accounts (Instagram) and its website in order to drive interest and expand the magazine's outreach.

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience in publicity, social media managing or digital media preferred

    • List of ideas on how to improve the magazine’s outreach

    • You must be active and keep the the magazine’s accounts up to date

  • Graphic designers create various visuals for the magazine, including but not limited to posters, social media posts, website pages and advertisements.

    Requirements:

    • Proficient previous experience

    • 3 design samples

    • You must maintain active communication with editors and media managers
